Professional Bio: Ms. Homan was the first faculty member employed in the Division of Nursing when it was established in 1974. She is the only charter faculty member still with the Division. She was actively involved in obtaining initial accreditation for the program and has developed the Self-Study Reports that resulted in continued accreditation by the Alabama Board of Nursing and the National League for Nursing. She also developed the proposal that led to approval by the Board of Nursing for the Division of Nursing to provide continuing education activities for nurses in the area. To date the faculty of the Division have provided programs that have allowed over 100 nurses in the area to meet the mandatory continuing education requirement for license renewal in the state.

  • Chair, Alabama Council of Administrators of Professional Nursing Education Programs; Alabama State Nurses’ Association Continuing Education Committee and Nominating Committee
Additional information:
  • The Division of Nursing is accredited by the Alabama Board of Nursing and the National League for Nursing. Currently the program ranks 5th in the state of 35 nursing programs on the pass rate for the national RN licensure examination. All graduates are employed primarily in health agencies within the service area of UWA.
