Richard Holland served as the Dean of
the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics from 1994 -
2002. He was named President of UWA in Spring 2002. He continues to teach selected
classes in the Department of Biological Sciences,
including General Botany, Field Botany, Vascular and
Nonvascular Botany. Dr. Holland is a graduate of Livingston
University, and received his Ph.D. from the University of
Tennessee. He is a two-time recipient of the Gilbert Award
for Outstanding Teaching, and was one of the first Mcllwain
Trustee Professors at UWA. His varied interests include all
areas of botany, and the history and philosophy of science.
