Biography: |
Manley
Blackwell,
pianist, is on
the faculty at
the University
of West Alabama,
where he teaches
piano, organ,
music
fundamentals,
and courses in
music history.
He completed the
Bachelor and
Master of Music
degrees at
Louisiana State
University and
the Doctor of
Musical Arts
degree at
Michigan State
University. He
has performed as
soloist, chamber
musician, and
accompanist in
many parts of
the South and
Mid-West. He
frequently
performs with
music faculty
members at the
University of
Alabama and is
often invited
for special
events at the
U.A. School of
Music when
additional
accompanists are
needed. He
served as an
Official
Accompanist for
the 1999, 2001,
and 2003
American Horn
Competitions and
the 2005
International
Horn Society
Summer
Symposium. He
was an
adjudicator for
the World Piano
Pedagogy
Conference
Competition in
2006. Dr.
Blackwell also
serves as
organist at St.
Leo the Great
Catholic Church
in Demopolis,
AL.
