Bio: |
I
was born at a Naval base in Pensacola, Florida in March 1945.
Neither of my parents graduated from high school. My elementary and
high school years were completed in Jackson, Mississippi. College
experience began in 1963 at Hinds Community College in Raymond,
Mississippi. After graduation from community college, I joined the
Mississippi Air National Guard. After basic training, I enrolled at
Mississippi State University and graduated in 1969. Marriage to my
first wife Kaye took place during my junior year. Upon completion of
the bachelor’s degree a job was accepted with Herschede Hall Clock
Company. My position was project engineer for the Motor-Guide
Trolling Motor Division. While working in industry I taught
Industrial Psychology for two years part-time for Mississippi State
University. In 1971 after completion of the master’s degree,
employment was at Livingston University. A leave of absence was
granted in 1974-1976 to complete the doctorate. The return to UWA
included a two-week old daughter Laura. In 1980 I accepted a new and
challenging position at Southeastern Louisiana University. In 1985 I
was invited back to UWA as Chair of the Technology Division. Kaye
passed away in February of 1998 finalizing a thirty-year marriage.
In the same year Laura married Miles Hester a recruiter for UWA.
Laura a UWA graduate is employed with Rush Hospital Systems in
Meridian, Mississippi as Benefits Coordinator. In May of 1999. I
married TyAnne Smith Stone a graduate of UWA. Ty is a supervisor
with the Alabama Department of Human Resources. |
