Air and Waste Management Association--Alabama Chapter
The Alabama Chapter of the A&WMA awards one or more $1000 Environmental Scholarships each year, depending on funding availability. These scholarships are open to incoming or active college students who are residents of Alabama. Candidates should be pursuing a scientific degree with involvement in an environmentally related field. The deadline for scholarship submittal is usually at the beginning of July for the upcoming academic year. Recipients are usually notified at the end of July. The Alabama Wildflower Society Blanche E. Dean Scholarship Award
The Blanche E. Dean Scholarship program sponsored by the Alabama Wildflower Society (AWS) honors the late Blanche E. Dean and her contribution to the knowledge and appreciation of the natural history of Alabama. The program is designed to encourage and support students whose academic pursuits are aligned with the purposes of the society, including (a) collecting, exchanging, and recording information on native plants, (b) preserving and propagating rare native plants and areas of significant interest due to their native flora, and (c) promoting knowledge, appreciation, and use of native plants. The comprehensive purpose of this scholarship program is to encourage contributions to Alabama like those made by Blanche E. Dean. The deadline for scholarship application submittal is usually at the beginning of September. Contact Dr. Wymer for more details and the application form.
The Morris K. Udall Foundation scholarship, a national scholarship competition
The Udall Foundation furthers Congressman Udall's legacy by awarding approximately 80 scholarships of up to $5,000 to outstanding students and 30 scholarships of $350 (honorable mention applicants) in the Environmental Sciences. Eligible students must be sophomores or juniors and must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Students must be nominated by Dr. Wymer, the UWA Udall Foundation Faculty Representative. If you think you have what it takes, see Dr. Wymer by 1 November of each year.

Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships
Legacy's Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to Alabama students who are pursuing environmentally related careers. Students who are of at least junior standing are encouraged to apply. If you are planning to make a difference in Alabama's environment when you complete your studies, don't miss this chance to secure financial assistance for tuition and books. Undergraduate students are eligible for up to $1,500 and graduate students are eligible for up to $2,000. Applications for each academic year are usually available in early January of each year.
