Andrew "Drew" Gordon is beginning his third
year at the University of West Alabama. In August 2005, Drew
was hired as a Visiting Instructor of Physical Education. As
of August 2006, Drew was promoted to the position of Full-time
Instructor of Physical Education in the University of West Alabama's
Department of Physical Education and Athletic Training.
Prior to coming to UWA, Drew worked in many
different aspects of Physical Education, athletics, &
athletic administration. Since January 2001, he has worked
for
Universal Cheerleaders Association as a
cheerleading
instructor, as well as a
mascot instructor. In 2002, he was
promoted to the position of Mid-South/South-East Mascot
Director of UCA. From August 2004 to May 2005, he was a
Graduate Assistant to the Athletic Director, Dr. Brad
Teague, & Assistant Athletic Director, Ray Bridges, at
Delta
State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. From September
2004 to May 2005, he was the Physical Education Teacher at
Pearman Elementary in Cleveland, Mississippi. From August
2003 to August 2004, he was the Graduate Assistant to the
Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Wayne Blansett, at
Delta State, serving as the
Graduate Assistant Cheerleading
Coach, as well as cheering on the squad (amazingly at
the ages 29 & 30). He was the Cheerleading Coach of the 2003 & 2004
Class 4-A All-Girl State Champion Cheerleading Squads at
Cleveland High School, whose sponsor is Mrs. Memory Naron.
From August 2001 to August 2003, he was the coach of the
Competitive Gymnastics Team at Northwest Alabama Gymnastics
Center in Fayette, Alabama, as well as being the coach of
the Competitive All-Girl All-Star Cheerleading Squad, the
NWA Cougars. He also taught cheerleading, gymnastics, and
tumbling at NWA Gymnastics Center. From September 1998 to
August 2003, he served as a Physical Education Aide at
Fayette Elementary School
in Fayette, Alabama. From June
1998 to August 1998, he worked as a Physical Therapy Aide at
Carraway Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Alabama. From 1996 to
2000, he was an Assistant Football Coach at
Fayette County
High School. In 1996, the Fayette Tigers were Class 4-A
State Champions. In 1996, Drew worked as a trainer at
Gold’s Gym in Montgomery, Alabama in the Trade-Out Program.
From 1994 to 1995, he assisted in the “Field Day” activities
at Fayette Middle School. From 1992 to 1993, as well as
from 1999 to 2001, he assisted in the “Special Olympics” for
Fayette County.
Personal Biography:
Drew was
born in Tuscaloosa County. He grew up living in
Fayette, AL. All of his family members reside in the
state of Alabama.
His father,
John Ray Gordon, and wife, Karen, live in Fayette, AL. His
father is the County Executive & Administrator for Fayette County, along
with being the Worship & Music Minister for
Crossview Community Church, and his step-mother is a
Registered Nurse for Home Health.
Drew has an identical twin
brother, John Tucker Gordon, who lives in Prattville, AL
with his wife, Joy, daughter, Neely, & one more child on the
way. John serves
as the
Dean of Student Activities at Faulkner University
and is also the Family & Worship Minister at
Hunter Hills Church of Christ.
His sister, Martha
Charlene Gordon, lives in Fayette, AL as well. Martha
completed her Skin Aesthetics Licensure from
Skinactics
in Birmingham, Alabama in 2005 &, after graduating from
Bevill State in the Spring 2007, is a Registered Nurse with
the
DCH Health System at
the
DCH Regional Medical Center
in Tuscaloosa, AL. Martha attends church
at Crossview Community Church in Fayette & serves as the
Youth Pastor.
