Established the Office of Institutional Research Office as a functional element of The University of West Alabama administrative structure. 

Coordinated the development of the strategic planning , program review, institutional assessment, and curriculum review processes for the University.

 

Coordinated the development of a five-year strategic plan for the University of West Alabama. 

Developed and conducted the University's first comprehensive facilities inventory and classification
system in order to improve facilities utilization management. 

Performed the calculations to adjust the Alabama Commission on Higher Education Regular
Academic Program (RAP) Formula for the "Small-College Fit" Component. 

Coordinated The University of West Alabama’s proposal to enter the Alabama Supercomputer
Network of which the institution is now a member. 

Served as a member of the University Planning Council, Institutional Research Committee
(ex-officio), Institutional Assessment Committee (ex.-officio). 

Served as The University of West Alabama's representative to the Alabama Commission on Higher

Planned, developed, coordinated, and wrote a series of multi-year Title III Program proposals for the University of West Alabama which resulted in funding exceeding $3.7 million.  These program proposals included funding for faculty development, curriculum development programs, student services, a Technical Division, and management information/ decision/support system development including hardware and software. 

Served as project officer and coordinated with the staff of the Alabama Commission on Higher Education in the development of the Bachelor of Technology Degree Program and associate degree technical programs for The University of West Alabama.

Selected Accomplishments:  Directed planning and coordination of all logistics support for all Army
National Guard units throughout the State of Alabama both during annual training and unit training assemblies. 

Coordinated the planning, scheduling, funding, and conduct of the first Unit Movement Officer
courses within the previous five years. 

Served as Assistant Director of  Operations for the State Emergency Operations Center during the
Southeast Alabama Floods of 1994.

Special Assignments:  Served on the State of Alabama National Guard Long-Range Planning
Committee and as a member of the Editorial Sub-Committee.   

 

Assistant Chief of Staff, Special Operations, 167th Support Command (Corps), Alabama Army
National Guard, September 1992 to November 1993. 

Selected Accomplishments: Directed planning and coordination of all logistics support including
transportation movement scheduling and control for "Wheels '94", a major reserve component transportation exercise, with units conducting operations stretched across nine southeastern states.

During the exercise, assigned units moved more than 3.1 million gallons of fuel and 1,052 tons of supplies and materials. The exercise saved the Department of Defense approximately $1 million in funds which would have been paid to contract services. 

Served as the 167th Support Command representative on the State of Alabama National Guard
Long-Range Planning Committee and  as a member of the Editorial and Writing Sub-Committee.   

 

Commander, 167th Transportation Center (Movements Control), Alabama Army National Guard, 
                          June 1991 to August 1992. 

Selected Accomplishments:  Directed coordination of the reconstitution of two Movement Control
Teams returning from  Southwest Asia and Desert Storm.  Coordinated redistribution of personnel resources upon deactivation of the Transportation Center.   

 

Assistant Chief of Staff, Transportation, 167th Support Command (Corps), Alabama Army National Guard, October 1990 to June 1991.

Selected Accomplishments:  Coordinated readiness issues and worked closely with the State of
Alabama Area Command  Director of Logistics in redistribution of assets in activation of 167th COSCOM transportation units during Exercise Desert Shield. 

Coordinated transportation planning efforts of transportation units and staff in conjunction with
Exercise Fuertes-Caminos in Central America and the Port of Mobile. 

Assisted in development and conduct of the transportation component of the 167th Support
Command Logistics Exercise Vulcan Shield II.

 

Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, Materiel, 167th Support Command (Corps), October 1989 to October 1990.

Selected Accomplishments:  Assisted in the planning, coordination, and development of a major
logistical exercise for 167th Support Command. 

Directed a major exercise in conjunction with the 38th Infantry Division of the Indiana National
Guard conducted at Camp Grayling, Michigan.  Served as the 167th Supoort Command (Forward) Commander during the conduct of the exercise. 

Served as Night-Shift Operations Center Chief for the 167th Support Command during the initial stages of Exercise Desert Shield when the Command was placed on alert for activation for service in Southwest Asia. 

 

Executive Officer, 31st Support Group (Area), Alabama Army National Guard.  December 1988 
                           to September 1989. 

Selected Accomplishments:  Reviewed and revised the Group Staff planning process and Incorporated changes which made the process more dynamic and responsive.  Coordinated staff actions in preparation for a highly successful Command Readiness Inspections (CRI) and 1989 annual training period at Camp Shelby, Mississippi.   

 

Director of Security, Plans and Operations, 31st Support Group (Area), Alabama Army National 
                          Guard.  November 1987 to December 1988. 

Selected Accomplishments:  Directed planning of unit's overseas deployment with five subordinate battalion headquarters elements to the Republic of Korea in June 1988. 

Directed planning of a major combat service support and rear battle and operations exercise which received a 100% readiness rating during the unit's Annual Training period and a 100% achievement rating on the unit's Army Training and Evaluation Program as rated by external evaluators. 

 

Materiel Maintenance Officer, 167th Materiel Management Center (MMC), Alabama Army 
                          National Guard.  January 1984 to September 1986. 

Selected Accomplishments:  Planned, developed, and coordinated a model combat service support Training program which integrated training and operational support between Alabama and Georgia National Guard Units. Received the Army Achievement Medal and Letters of Commendation from the 167th Corps Support Command (COSCOM) Commander and the Adjutant Generals of Alabama and Georgia for this accomplishment. 

Operations Research Systems Analyst,  167th Materiel Management Center (MMC), Alabama 
                           Army National Guard.  October 1981 to January 1984. 

Selected Accomplishments:  Developed, conducted, and wrote a comprehensive staff study in cooperation with 7th U. S. Corps Information Systems Officer which indicated a need for the MMC's Tables of Organization and Equipment to be modified to include a Systems Support Division.  A formal proposal was submitted along with the staff study to the Department of the Army.  All MMC's throughout the Army now include a Systems Support Division.
